Lehi senior Brielle Adams has won 11 consecutive Region 5 Varsity Girls mountain biking races, including all three this season, and holds a perfect 900 points in the standings.
The streak puts Adams at the center of a five-point battle involving all three area high schools. Skyridge junior Pepper Smith sits second with 896 points, and Lone Peak's Brynn Lloyd is third at 895, according to the Lehi Free Press.
Adams clocked 1:13:34.75 at Beaver Mountain on Aug. 22, 1:03:57.76 at Richfield on Sept. 5 and 1:06:30.68 at Panguitch on Sept. 26. Smith has closed the gap race by race. She finished third at Beaver Mountain in 1:15:11.14, then moved to second at Richfield (1:04:26.25) and Panguitch (1:07:13.46), per the Free Press's Skyridge coverage.
One regional race remains before the Utah state championships.
Lehi's team results lag behind Adams' individual dominance. The Pioneers have finished fourth in all three Region 5 Division 1 events. Lone Peak led at Beaver Mountain, and Skyridge has battled Wasatch for second and third across the season. Skyridge is third overall in the region.
Lehi's strongest team outing came at Beaver Mountain, where the Pioneers scored 4,503 points. Adams contributed 300. Sophomore Max Glade added 290 and sophomore Grant McRae posted 287.
McRae and Glade are contending individually in the boys JV A division, too. McRae is fourth with 862 points, three behind Spanish Fork's Braxton Mabey at 865. Glade is fifth at 859.
The three-way girls battle and the boys JV A race will be settled over the final regional event and the state championship course.
