A Highland man faces eight felony charges after allegedly threatening to kill a Fourth District Court judge and shoot a Utah County Sheriff's deputy in the face.

Bryce David Huntsman, 29, is being held without bail at the Utah County Jail. He faces eight counts of influencing, impeding or retaliating against a judge, each a third-degree felony, and four counts of interfering with a public servant, each a Class B misdemeanor, ABC4 first reported, citing court documents.

The charges stem from a weeks-long escalation that began Sept. 8, when a Fourth District Court judge signed an order for Huntsman to be evaluated at a mental health facility. A family member requested the evaluation, according to court documents.

Deputies met with yelling, then a voicemail threat

On Sept. 15, two Utah County Sheriff's Office deputies went to Huntsman's residence to serve the order. They reported hearing a male voice yelling from inside the home, repeating an expletive-laced demand to leave the property several times. The deputies taped the order to the door and left.

Six days later, on Sept. 21, deputies returned with an updated order and again taped it to the door. After they left, one deputy received a voicemail from Huntsman.

"The next time you come over here and criminally trespass, you will be shot in your face," Huntsman allegedly said in the voicemail, according to court documents.

Court documents say Huntsman threatened to shoot the deputy three times during that voicemail.

Emails included handgun photo, threats against judge's family

The judge's court clerk then received several threatening emails from Huntsman directed at both the judge and the clerk. The emails alleged that Huntsman knew where the judge lived and where the judge's children slept, and told the judge he deserved the death penalty, court documents state.

Huntsman also allegedly sent the clerk a photo of a handgun. One email included a photograph of raw meat on a counter alongside threatening language, court documents say.

The emails included images of Huntsman himself, which allowed investigators to confirm his identity.

Arrested Sept. 26, held without bail

Huntsman was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on Sept. 26. He is being held without bail. No statement from the Utah County Sheriff's Office or the Utah County Attorney's Office was available as of Oct. 1.

Each third-degree felony carries a possible prison term of up to five years and a fine of up to $5,000 under Utah law. Each Class B misdemeanor carries up to six months in jail. No next court date has been announced.
