The former executive director of Lehi's Hutchings Museum faces six felony charges alleging she stole approximately $292,000 in museum funds over five years.

Daniela G. Larsen, 51, of Saratoga Springs was charged Tuesday, Sept. 29, with unlawful dealing of property by a fiduciary, communications fraud, theft over $5,000, two counts of unlawful use of a financial card over $5,000 and unlawful possession of a financial card. The first five are second-degree felonies. The sixth is a third-degree felony.

A forensic accountant found Larsen misappropriated approximately $292,062.70 from the museum between January 2019 and January 2024, according to court documents cited by ABC4.

Larsen was hired as executive director in 2018 and oversaw grant writing, operations, marketing and financial management at the museum, located at 55 N. Center St. in Lehi's historic Veterans Memorial Building. She received a financial card with a $300 limit but was not authorized to open bank accounts or incur debt in the museum's name, court documents state.

In July 2019, Larsen allegedly opened an unauthorized bank account under the name "The John Hutchings Museum," which is not the museum's legal name, KSL reported. She also allegedly obtained an unauthorized loan in the museum's name. Using the unauthorized account and the museum's legitimate account, she allegedly spent $276,779.80 on personal purchases including audiobooks, phone bills, food delivery, auto insurance, retail stores and utility bills, according to court documents.

Board members told the Lehi Police Department that Larsen took trips to Moab, Wellington and Louisiana while claiming they were business-related. She allegedly spent at least $15,232.90 on those trips and did not reimburse any of the expenses.

The museum's board terminated Larsen in December 2023 after discovering what it described as personal spending on museum accounts.

Larsen was previously arrested and charged with a third-degree felony theft in May 2024 for allegedly removing museum property, including four benches and a refrigerator, from the old train museum. Some items were found at a Lehi consignment store. Those charges were dismissed without prejudice in February 2025 after the prosecution requested a continuance due to witness issues.

Larsen is not in custody. A warrant for her arrest has been proposed but not confirmed as issued. No statement from Larsen or a defense attorney appears in public records.

No arraignment date has been set. The case is pending in 4th District Court.
