Mo' Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food opened its doors at 10969 N Town Center in Highland on Friday, Sept. 25, giving residents a new fast-casual option in the Town Center corridor.
The Hawaiian-style barbecue chain's Highland spot is its 36th restaurant in Utah and its 83rd nationwide, according to a press release on Restaurant News. The menu centers on Hawaiian-style plate lunches: teriyaki chicken and steak, kalua pig, pulehu chicken and katsu chicken, served with steamed rice, vegetables and macaroni salad. The restaurant offers dine-in, takeout and catering.
Mo' Bettahs marked the opening with a Friends and 'Ohana community event on Thursday, Sept. 24. That event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. followed by complimentary mini plates and drinks.
Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The restaurant is closed Sundays.
Brothers Kimo and Kalani Mack founded Mo' Bettahs in Bountiful in 2008. Both grew up on O'ahu, where they worked as city bus drivers before launching the restaurant.
"Utah will always be a special place for Mo' Bettahs because it's where Kimo and I first had the chance to share the food and traditions we grew up with," Kalani Mack said in the brand's press release. "Nearly 20 years later, it means a lot to continue growing here and welcoming new communities like Highland into our 'ohana."
The chain has expanded after partnering with Savory Restaurant Fund, Blue Marlin Partners and Trive Capital. Mo' Bettahs now operates in eight states, including Utah, Idaho, Texas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Indiana and Arizona. In April, the company announced plans to enter Phoenix, Indianapolis and Minneapolis as part of its national push, according to Nation's Restaurant News.
Highland City's current projects page lists the Town Center Lot 3 site plan at 10969 N Town Center Blvd as approved on Sept. 3, 2025, with a status of "Construction." The restaurant is open and serving customers at that address.
