Two crashes struck northbound I-15 in Lehi within roughly 24 minutes of each other Wednesday evening, July 29, blocking lanes on a corridor already under construction for a $621 million freeway project.

The first crash, reported by UDOT Traffic on X, blocked the right lane and right shoulder of the four-lane stretch at SR-194 (2100 North). UDOT estimated clearance by 7:56 p.m.

A second collision, also reported by UDOT Traffic, followed at Exit 284 near Timpanogos Highway, blocking one of two shoulder lanes. UDOT estimated that scene would clear by 8:20 p.m.

Neither alert mentioned injuries. The posts also did not include the number of vehicles involved or what caused the collisions. The Lehi Police Department had not released incident reports for either crash as of Thursday, July 30.

Construction corridor

Both crashes occurred alongside the active 2100 North freeway connector project, a 2.8-mile freeway-to-freeway connection between I-15 and Mountain View Corridor that broke ground in March and is expected to run through late 2028. The project is part of a nearly $1.4 billion state investment in northwest Utah County transportation, and UDOT estimates the completed connection will save east-west commuters about 12 minutes each direction during peak travel, according to a March 18 press release.

The same stretch of I-15 faces a planned 55-hour closure starting Friday, July 31, at 10 p.m., when the southbound off-ramp at Exit 282 shuts down for utility work through Monday, August 3, at 5 a.m. Part of Thanksgiving Way will also close during that window, as we reported July 30.
