Drivers heading to Thanksgiving Point, nearby restaurants, and businesses along Thanksgiving Way will lose their primary southbound I-15 exit for the entire weekend starting Friday, July 31.

The Utah Department of Transportation will close the southbound I-15 off-ramp at 2100 North (Exit 282) in Lehi at 10 p.m. Friday and keep it shut until 5 a.m. Monday, August 3. A short segment of Thanksgiving Way that runs parallel to the exit will also close during the same 55-hour window, according to a UDOT announcement published Wednesday, July 29.

The shutdown spans Friday evening through early Monday, covering weekend shopping and dining hours at Thanksgiving Point and along Thanksgiving Way. The Outlets at Traverse Mountain, two exits north at Exit 284, is running summer extended hours Friday and Saturday (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.). That exit remains open. Thanksgiving Point and businesses directly on Thanksgiving Way sit closest to the shut-down ramp and road segment.

Why the ramp is closing

Crews need the weekend to complete utility work tied to the $621 million 2100 North freeway connector project. The project is building 2.8 miles of new freeway linking I-15 directly to Mountain View Corridor, creating a freeway-to-freeway connection that UDOT says will save east-west commuters about 12 minutes each way during peak travel once it opens in late 2028.

The scope is massive. The 2100 North connector is part of a nearly $1.4 billion state investment in northwest Utah County transportation. Construction began in spring 2026. In addition to the freeway lanes, the project includes 14 new bridges, two pedestrian bridges, nearly two miles of shared-use paths, and two miles of realigned trails.

UDOT Region Three Director Rob Clayton said in March, when the agency announced construction was underway, "As Utah County continues to thrive, we are investing in projects like this to keep Utah moving."
