Lehi's football season comes down to one game.

The Pioneers (5-4, 1-3 Region 3) travel to Corner Canyon (8-2) on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. for their regular-season finale, sitting at No. 8 in the 6A state RPI rankings. A win could lock in a favorable first-round playoff seed. A loss could push Lehi to the margins of the bracket.

The stakes sharpened after Lehi fell 14-7 to Lone Peak on Thursday, Oct. 8, in a defensive grind at home. The Pioneers dropped from No. 7 to No. 8 in the RPI with the loss, the Lehi Free Press reported. The difference was special teams: Lone Peak returned a punt 51 yards for a touchdown with 31 seconds left in the third quarter to break a 7-7 tie. Lehi mounted a final drive that reached near the goal line, but senior running back Sam Verbecky was ruled inches short of a first down with about a minute left.

"I'm proud of how we competed and continue to fight, which gives us a chance in every game," head coach Andy Hadfield said after the loss. "We've been on the winning side in a couple of close ones and had a chance in this one."

Lehi's defense held Lone Peak to 171 total yards and forced two interceptions. Sophomore defensive back Li'i Unga picked off a pass at the Lehi 25-yard line to set up the Pioneers' only scoring drive. Senior defensive back Porter Hobbs intercepted another at the 7-yard line late in the second quarter to preserve the halftime tie.

Hadfield noted the physical toll of the Region 3 schedule, saying the team was missing Cam Bryce and that players were banged up by this point in the year.

Corner Canyon presents a different challenge. The Chargers rolled past American Fork 41-17 on Oct. 8, according to MaxPreps, and have won four of their last five games. Their only region loss came at Skyridge, 37-27, on Sept. 25. Corner Canyon is playing its first season without longtime head coach Eric Kjar, who left after the 2025 season for Weber State. Kjar posted a 112-10 record in nine seasons at Corner Canyon, winning six state championships.

After Lehi's 20-19 win at American Fork on Oct. 2, Hadfield described the stretch run as a test of mentality. "The gauntlet continues," he told the Lehi Free Press at the time. "We've got to go into these final games with the underdog mentality."

The UHSAA Bracket Reveal Show is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. on KSLsports.com, with final 6A brackets and rankings available at 11 a.m.
