Cedar Hills crews applied a pavement preservation treatment to multiple city streets on Friday, July 31, in the first phase of the city's HA5 road resurfacing project.

No roads are closed.

The city posted a notice Friday describing the work as the first part of the HA5 project for the affected roads and confirming that the larger August phase remains on schedule. Drivers should use caution in work zones.

That next phase will bring full street closures on three days: Thursday, Aug. 13; Monday, Aug. 17; and Wednesday, Aug. 19. Different neighborhoods will be affected each day under a color-coded system — Purple day on Aug. 13, Green day on Aug. 17, and Pink day on Aug. 19. Detailed maps showing which streets close on which day are available on the city's website.

As we reported July 30, the city has not announced start or end times for any of the three August closure days. Residents should follow detour signs during those closures.

Cedar Hills has used HA5 on its roughly 36 lane miles of residential roads for over a decade, according to Holbrook Asphalt, the product's manufacturer. Kevin Anderson, identified as the city's public works director in a Holbrook Asphalt case study, has overseen the program.

The city did not identify which specific streets received treatment Friday — its notice referenced a map image not available in text form.
