The Utah County Metro SWAT team took a suspect into custody without injury Sunday morning after a standoff at an Eagle Mountain home prompted a two-block shelter-in-place order, the Utah County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Deputies responded to an altercation between two people inside a residence on Sunday, Aug. 2. When the suspect did not respond to deputies and information suggested the person was possibly armed, authorities obtained a search warrant and called in the regional SWAT team, according to ABC4.

The sheriff's office ordered residents within a two-block radius to shelter in place while the tactical team moved in.

The standoff ended quickly. SWAT members took the suspect into custody without incident, and the shelter-in-place was lifted, KUTV reported. The sheriff's office said there is no remaining threat to the public.

Authorities did not release the suspect's identity, the nature of the altercation, or whether a weapon was actually recovered from the home.

The Utah County Metro SWAT team is the same regional tactical unit available to Alpine, Highland, Cedar Hills, and Lehi when high-risk situations arise. The 40-member team draws from approximately ten agencies across Utah County and operates under Lt. Shaun Cowden of the Utah County Sheriff's Office.

The Lone Peak Police Department, which serves Alpine and Highland, and the departments covering Cedar Hills and Lehi can all call on Metro SWAT for barricaded subjects, high-risk search warrants, and active shooter incidents. The team responds to roughly 50 operations per year countywide, according to the sheriff's office website.

Eagle Mountain is policed by the Utah County Sheriff's Office under a contract arrangement, with 33 sworn deputies assigned to the city.

No charges had been announced as of the afternoon of Aug. 2. The sheriff's office has not confirmed whether a weapon was found or provided details about what sparked the altercation. No injuries were reported to either party or to law enforcement.
