Lehi residents can spend a Saturday morning cleaning parks, assembling food kits and stuffing teddy bears when the Lehi Serves Coalition hosts its 5th annual Day of Service on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon across multiple locations, with outdoor projects starting first and an awards ceremony closing the day. Volunteer registration is open now at justserve.org/lehiarea.

All ages are welcome.

Lehi Serves organizes the event in connection with the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. The year 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, and the nation's 250th birthday.

What's happening where

Outdoor service projects run 8–11 a.m. and include grounds improvement at Lehi Legacy Center and Sports Park, plus additional projects throughout the city. Indoor projects at Willowcreek Middle School run 9 a.m. to noon, with volunteers assembling food kits, stuffing teddy bears, cutting and tying blankets and other hands-on work for Utah County nonprofits.

Photography volunteers are needed to document the day.

At noon, the event wraps with a ceremony at Willowcreek Middle School where Lehi City will present its Service of Excellence Award to local service heroes.

Getting involved

Abby Hughes, a founding member of the Lehi Serves Coalition, said the milestone year carries extra meaning.

"It is the fifth year of this event, and also the 250th year celebrating America, so it feels extra special to be able to gather together and serve our community," Hughes told Lehi Free Press. "We have so much work to do, so we hope everyone signs up."

The coalition has built partnerships across the city since its 2022 founding. The Lehi Cares Coalition, a city-supported nonprofit focused on youth prevention, has partnered with Lehi Serves on a community clean-up youth service project, according to Lehi City's website. Members of Lehi Serves were also among the groups recognized as 2026 Lehi Heritage Day Honorees on July 30.

Former Mayor Mark Johnson credited the launch of the annual Day of Service with Lehi Serves in 2022 as a milestone for the city, according to a farewell message published in the Lehi Ledger in January.
