Kids heading back to Alpine School District classrooms on Aug. 19 still have nearly a week to explore GPS-controlled tractors, drone pollinators and robot farm hands at Curiosity Farms in Lehi.

Thanksgiving Point's working farm on the Water Tower Campus published a blog post on Aug. 12 spotlighting five agricultural technologies connected to the farm's Innovation Station exhibit. Cloe Bentz walked readers through GPS-guided auto-steering tractors, crop-monitoring drones, John Deere's See & Spray AI weed-detection system, Carbon Robotics' LaserWeeder and smart sensors for precision irrigation.

The numbers are striking.

John Deere reported its See & Spray system covered more than 5 million acres during the 2025 growing season, cutting non-residual herbicide use by nearly 50%. Carbon Robotics says its LaserWeeder, which uses cameras and AI to distinguish crops from weeds before targeting them with lasers, is operated by more than 100 commercial growers across North America, Europe and Australia. The blog post frames these industry-scale tools as examples of the science kids can begin to understand through hands-on farm experiences.

At the farm's Innovation Station, drone pollinators, robot farm hands and GPS-controlled tractors are on display with hands-on learning stations. The exhibit sits alongside Grow Tech Gardens, where high-tech hydroponic containers grow greens and herbs for Thanksgiving Point restaurants, and a Livestock Learning Lab where visitors can milk a cow or pet a rabbit.

Curiosity Farms is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at 2502 W. Wildflower Lane, Lehi. Online tickets run $24 for adults and $17 for children ages 3–12. Thanksgiving Point members get in free. Families on SNAP or WIC can bring a benefits card and photo ID for free child admission and $9 adult tickets through the Every Kid Counts program (in-person only).

A Super STEM Saturday on Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. features farm-tech experiments and hands-on activity tables.

What else is open at Thanksgiving Point

• Imaginaria at Ashton Gardens (3900 N. Garden Drive, Lehi) runs through Saturday, Aug. 22. The festival includes a 40-foot Statue of Liberty replica, a 250-foot inflatable obstacle course and a 150-foot Mega Slide. Stargazing Night is Friday, Aug. 14. Included with Ashton Gardens admission; free for members.
• Summer All-Access Pass (through Aug. 22): three consecutive days at all seven Thanksgiving Point venues for $39 adults, $29 children.
