Thanksgiving Point's annual Labor Day Luau returns to the Waterfall Amphitheatre at Ashton Gardens in Lehi on Monday, Sept. 7, with a Hawaiian-inspired dinner and live Pacific Island performances. Tickets are limited. According to a blog post by Cloe Bentz on the Thanksgiving Point website, the luau is one of the organization's most popular events and advance purchase is strongly recommended.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Guests settle in for dinner and a pre-show before the main performance begins at 7:30 p.m. The evening features traditional Pacific Island dances and storytelling.

The dinner menu includes kalua pork, teriyaki chicken, steamed white rice, Maui salad greens, traditional macaroni salad, fresh seasonal fruit, house rolls, a pineapple cupcake with toasted coconut and a POG (passion, orange and guava) beverage.

Thanksgiving Point said on its Facebook page that the event sells out every year. The organization's Instagram account posted Aug. 19 that tickets were already going fast.

What to know before you go

Seating is first-come, first-served. The amphitheatre has three zones: a blanket-only hill on the right side of the stage, a low-chair area to the left (seats no more than 9 inches off the ground, backs no higher than 30 inches) and a tall-chair section toward the rear for standard camp chairs. Wheelchairs, strollers and tall wagons have designated space near the rear as well.

Free parking is available at the Ashton Gardens Visitors Center and across from the Museum of Natural Curiosity. Thanksgiving Point strongly encourages carpooling due to expected traffic congestion. Accessible parking is available through parking attendants on site.

Mobility devices such as wheelchairs and golf carts are not available to rent at the event, so guests who need them should bring their own.
