Skyridge junior Beckham Bennett has been named the school's Athlete of the Month after a two-game stretch that showcased the 5-foot-8, 170-pound running back/wide receiver as one of the Falcons' most dangerous weapons.

The Lehi Free Press announced the award on Monday, Aug. 24, citing Bennett's versatility across Skyridge's first two contests of the 2026 season.

Against Mountain Ridge on Aug. 14, Bennett posted six catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns, rushed 11 times for 36 yards and added 66 return yards on three attempts. Skyridge lost that opener 41-26, but Bennett's stat line stood out in a game where the Sentinels pulled away with a 28-6 second half.

Eight days later, he delivered the play that mattered most.

With Skyridge trailing Orem 14-7 heading into the fourth quarter on Saturday, Aug. 22, quarterback Jagger Fountaine hit Omarian Sanders on a 43-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. Then Bennett punched in a 4-yard run with 3:35 left to seal a 21-14 Falcon victory.

"I love those boys so much," Bennett told KSL Sports after the win, crediting his offensive linemen. "I've got to go buy them some food, maybe get them a steak and go somewhere to celebrate with them."

The award's editor note warned opponents not to overlook the undersized junior, writing that he bulldozed his way into the end zone against Orem and has shown both heart and toughness in these early contests against highly-regarded teams.

Head coach Justin Hemm had flagged Bennett as a key piece of the Skyridge backfield before the season began. "The backfield is good to go with Beckham Bennett, Ului Faletau as well as Amanaki Levatau," Hemm told the Lehi Free Press on Aug. 12 ahead of the season opener.

Two weeks in, Bennett has backed up that preseason billing. Skyridge sits at 1-1 and was ranked second in Class 6A in the coaches' preseason poll.

The Falcons host Hun School of New Jersey on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. as part of a tripleheader at West High School.
