Skyridge senior Allyceia Maae has committed one ball-handling error all season. One, out of 537 attempts.

That precision helped earn the setter and defensive specialist the Skyridge Athlete of the Month honor, as announced by the Lehi Free Press on Monday, Sept. 21.

Maae leads all Falcons setters with 334 assists, averaging 5.1 per set. She ranks third on the team with 28 service aces and fourth with 7.1 digs per set. The Lehi Free Press editors described Skyridge as a heavy-hitting squad that depends on precise passing, calling Maae a key piece in the team's 17-4 run.

The Falcons, coached by Siale Hifo, sit at No. 3 in the state and hold a 1-1 mark in 6A Region 3 play.

Skyridge entered region competition ranked No. 4 after a strong preseason. The Falcons won the Division I title at the Island Classic in Las Vegas. They followed that with a 5-1 run at the Utah Valley Invitational.

Maae's game-by-game numbers during that stretch stood out. Against Weber on Sept. 2, she posted 17 assists and 10 digs. She tallied 29 assists and 20 digs in a five-set loss to Provo. Against Green Canyon, she served four aces and dished 22 assists.

Region play has been a split so far. Skyridge lost to No. 1-ranked Corner Canyon in straight sets on Sept. 15 at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, falling 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22. The Falcons bounced back two days later, beating Lone Peak 3-2 on Sept. 17.

Maae does not carry the roster alone. Senior Emma White leads the team with 35 serving aces, and junior Emmie Mahe tops the squad with 37 total blocks, according to MaxPreps. Senior libero Estelle Slaney, senior outside hitter Anzlee Holt and junior middle blocker Lucy Meck round out a deep lineup.

Skyridge's next home match is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m.
