Lehi's girls soccer team rattled off four wins in five matches over a 10-day stretch from Aug. 11–20, pushing its non-league record to 6-2 heading into the final week of preseason play, Lehi Free Press reported.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jill Farnes anchored the run with back-to-back shutouts, blanking Herriman 2-0 on Aug. 13 and Olympus 1-0 on Aug. 17. Head coach Jonas Hartmann, now in his third year leading the program, praised Farnes in a recap of the stretch.

"Jill in goal … came up big on a couple of occasions. It took a great defensive effort to keep a very good team from scoring," Hartmann said, noting Olympus had outscored its previous opponents 8-1 entering the match.

Senior defender Livi Schoenfeld scored the lone goal at Olympus, burying an unassisted free kick from deep in the first half.

The stretch opened Aug. 11 against Mountain Ridge, where the Pioneers trailed 1-0 at halftime before a 90-minute lightning delay. Senior forward Ashley Gardner scored twice in the second half, with assists from juniors Tessa Richards and Lilie Watson. Richards added the third goal, Watson assisting again, for a 3-2 comeback.

Against Herriman two days later, Lehi debuted a three-defender formation led by freshman Kaelynn Grimley. Freshman forward Liv Seitzinger assisted on the game-winner by Richards in her varsity debut, and Richards then set up Watson for the insurance goal.

The lone loss came Aug. 19 at defending 6A champion Syracuse. Lehi led 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining before conceding three goals in a seven-minute span to fall 4-2. Watson scored the opener and assisted on junior midfielder Presley Shippen's goal.

"We had a mental lapse for seven minutes where we gave up three goals on shots from distance," Hartmann said. "We have to learn from this and figure out how to close out games."

The Pioneers responded the next day.

They routed Grantsville 7-2 at home, with Watson leading the attack on three goals and an assist. Sophomore Eiley Baker supplied three assists, and junior forward Emeri Thatcher, junior midfielder Aly Badger and sophomore midfielder Kayla Southwick also scored.

Varsity transfer keeper Siena Wells, who sat out under UHSAA transfer rules, becomes eligible for the Thursday, Aug. 27, match at Davis. Before the season, Hartmann told Lehi Free Press on Aug. 1 that Lehi wanted to be "taken seriously" in the state tournament picture. Six wins in eight preseason matches suggest the Pioneers are backing that up.

Lehi travels to Weber on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 3:30 p.m., then visits Davis on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 3:30 p.m. Both road matches are on grass. Region 3 play opens at home against Skyridge on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 3:30 p.m.
