Highland City crews are putting in new sidewalk, curb and gutter on the southwest corner of Strasburg Park at 6000 West and 10400 North. Construction is scheduled to run through the week of Monday, Aug. 10.

No road closures are planned.

The city announced the project on X on Thursday, Aug. 6, asking drivers to use caution when passing through the area. Highland did not disclose a cost estimate or a detailed project timeline beyond the Aug. 10 completion window.

Strasburg Park sits at roughly 6000 West and 10400 North in Highland. The new sidewalk and curb work will add pedestrian infrastructure to a corner of the park that currently lacks it, according to the city's announcement.

Separate from 10100 North closure

The Strasburg Park project is unrelated to Highland's closure of 10100 North near Lone Peak High School, which began Friday, Aug. 7, and is expected to last through Tuesday, Aug. 11. Drivers heading to or from the high school area should plan alternate routes for that closure while noting the separate construction zone near Strasburg Park about a mile to the south.

What residents should know

Highland City maintains 25 parks and 18.4 miles of trails citywide. The Strasburg Park sidewalk addition is a smaller capital project compared to the road work on 10100 North, but residents who walk or bike near the park's southwest corner will see equipment and crews through the week of Aug. 10.

Drivers do not need to find alternate routes for the Strasburg Park work, but the city asks for caution in the construction zone.
