Alpine residents can drop off old electronics and paper documents for free shredding and recycling at City Hall, 20 N. Main St., on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The city will accept cell phones, computers, laptops, keyboards, tablets, MP3 players, iPods, hard drives, printers, stereos, fax machines, CD and DVD players and flat-screen TVs, according to a civic alert on the city's website. Batteries, light bulbs and CRT televisions (the older, boxy kind) will not be accepted.

Residents bringing paper for shredding should remove it from three-ring binders and take off metal binder clips before arriving. Staples and paper clips can stay.

The city is limiting paper drop-offs to three boxes per household.
