Skyridge, Lone Peak lead four area teams favored Friday

Lehi, Lone Peak, Skyridge and Highland are all favored to win Friday, Sept. 11, and every spread is in double digits.

Parry's Power Guide, the Deseret News' weekly ratings system authored by Noland Parry, lists all four Tribune-area teams as favorites heading into Week 5. Every kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Skyridge (3-1) vs. Skyline: Falcons favored by 46.0

The biggest mismatch on paper belongs to the Falcons, ranked No. 3 by KSL Sports entering the week. Skyridge hosts Skyline for Homecoming carrying a power rating of 125.2 to Skyline's 79.2. The Falcons are coming off a 24-20 road win over Liberty of Henderson, Nevada, a game the team reached only after its bus broke down in the desert and forced a scramble for a replacement.

Quarterback Jagger Fountaine threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns in that win. Head coach Justin Hemm told the Lehi Free Press: "I was proud of the way our guys continued to compete and found a way to finish the game on the road."

Lone Peak (2-2) vs. Timpview: Knights favored by 26.7

Lone Peak hosts Timpview, ranked No. 12 by KSL Sports with a 2-2 record, looking to bounce back from a 38-14 loss to Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas on Sept. 4. The Knights' power rating of 127.9 is the highest among the four local teams. Cruz Christensen connected with Ledger Holmes on a 6-yard touchdown pass to tie that Gorman game at 7-7 in the first quarter before the Gaels pulled away, KSL Sports reported.

The Knights open region play Sept. 18 at Corner Canyon, making Friday's game their final nonregion tune-up.

Highland (3-1) at East: Rams favored by 13.3

Highland carries a three-game winning streak to East on Friday after demolishing Cottonwood 55-0 in a Region 10 game on Sept. 4. Quarterback Will Bauman threw four touchdown passes in that shutout, including strikes of 45 and 55 yards to Zamiri Vaughn, according to the Deseret News.

The Rams' power rating sits at 66.7 against East's 53.4.

Lehi (2-2) at Weber: Pioneers favored by 12.9

The closest game on the board sends Lehi to Weber (3-1), ranked No. 17 by KSL Sports. Pioneers head coach Andy Hadfield called the trip "one last warmup before league play starts" but cautioned that Weber's quarterback is a strong player they will need to contain.

"Their quarterback is a great player and we're going to have to contain him," Hadfield told the Lehi Free Press.

Deseret News high school sports editor James Edward splits from Parry on this game, picking Weber over Lehi in his Edward's Edge selections. Edward enters Week 5 with a season record of 180-43 (80.7%), outpacing Parry's 168-56 mark (75.0%).
