Lone Peak's girls soccer team scored six second-half goals to blow out No. 3 American Fork 6-0 on the road Thursday, Sept. 10.

The No. 2-ranked Knights improved to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in Region 3 with the win, which head coach Shantel Jolley called the team's most complete performance of the season, the Deseret News reported. The victory extended Lone Peak's winning streak to eight straight.

That streak matters because the Knights' three previous wins all went to overtime, with two decided by penalty kicks. Jolley said she challenged her players to close out a match in regulation.

They answered in a hurry.

Indy Jackson headed in a corner kick two minutes into the second half for the 1-0 lead. Sadie Stratton converted a penalty kick two minutes later. Sasha Castro then scored twice in four minutes to make it 4-0 by the 54th minute.

"We really just started flying," Stratton said. "That's what we've been training for this entire season. We've had a few rough bumps at the beginning of the season but really figured it out."

Jane Christensen drove a long-range shot over the goalkeeper in the 69th minute. Castro completed her hat trick three minutes later on a through ball to cap the 6-0 rout.

Four different Knights scored. Castro led with three goals, Stratton and Jackson each had one, and Christensen added the fifth.

The performance marked a dramatic turnaround for a team that opened the season 1-3 with losses to Park City, Green Canyon and Crimson Cliffs. Jolley said the team has responded well to tactical changes made after that slow start, with newer players buying into the program's culture.

Lone Peak travels to Skyridge on Tuesday, Sept. 15, for a 3:30 p.m. Region 3 matchup.
