Lone Peak High School in Highland will hold its Knight of Hope event on Wednesday, Nov. 4, an evening focused on teen stress, confidence and family connection.

The school's event announcement lists TEDx speaker and educator Michelle Porcelli as the keynote presenter. Porcelli, a licensed counselor who spent 23 years as a certified teacher and 10 years as a school counselor, will speak on navigating teen stress and building family connections. She holds degrees in education and school counseling from Brigham Young University and has authored courses for BYU Independent Study.

Porcelli delivered a TEDxSaltLakeCity talk in September 2020 titled "How Kids Can Connect Safely and Confidently With Cell Phones," drawing on her counseling experience to offer alternatives to simply taking a teen's phone away.

The evening also includes a Community and Connection Fair in the school's commons area, where attendees can meet local service providers, take part in a service project and explore resources. The keynote will be held in the auditorium. Hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls will be served, according to the announcement.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Alpine School District published a suicide prevention resource guide in September, citing 2025 SHARP survey results that showed the percentage of Utah youth who seriously considered attempting suicide dropped from 17% in 2023 to 12% in 2025. The share of students struggling in silence without reaching out fell from 42% to 38% over the same period, according to Utah State Board of Education data cited by the district.

Karen Hunter, a prevention specialist at Alpine School District, said in that September posting that connectedness is considered "the single most critical protective factor against suicide."

Lone Peak has hosted Knight of Hope events in prior years. The school's counseling department organized a similar gathering in January 2020.

The announcement does not specify whether registration is required. Families seeking details can contact Lone Peak High School directly.
