The new school district that will serve Lehi-area families starting July 1, 2027, now has a guiding purpose: "Every Child, Every Day."

The Aspen Peaks School District board unanimously adopted the four-word mission statement in July as its first-ever statement of purpose, according to the district. The phrase will guide decisions across teaching, learning, safety, and community engagement as the district builds out operations before its Thursday, July 1, 2027 launch.

"Defining our overarching purpose helps us focus on why and how we build something before we get too far into what we're building," said board member Jason Theler. "Developing a purpose statement helps ensure that future decisions this board makes are measured against and aligned with some fundamental priorities."

Aspen Peaks is the largest of three successor districts created by the breakup of Alpine School District, Utah's formerly largest district. When it opens, Aspen Peaks will serve approximately 35,000 K–12 students across 36 schools: 4 high schools, 6 middle schools, and 24 elementary schools in a community of about 178,600 residents.

What the mission means in practice

Superintendent Dr. Joel Perkins said the statement will shape day-to-day work at every level, from central administration to individual classrooms. He called its simplicity "incredibly powerful" and described it as a constant reminder of whom the district serves.

Board Vice President Amber Bonner pointed to the community conversations that shaped the mission. She said the board has talked extensively with parents and residents about the district's focus, and that the organization's entire purpose is to serve the children of the community.

Board President Diane Knight, a Lehi resident with 36 years of classroom experience in Alpine School District, rounds out a leadership team that has emphasized community engagement throughout the district's formation. The boards of Aspen Peaks, Lake Mountain, and Timpanogos school districts previously approved a resource-distribution agreement giving Aspen Peaks 41.78% of unassigned Alpine assets based on student enrollment.

District leaders say the mission statement will guide departmental decisions as Aspen Peaks prepares for its official launch on Thursday, July 1, 2027. No specific next milestone date has been announced for the rollout.
