On the issues

School counselor funding

Peterson said the presence of counselors in schools is "so beneficial and extremely needed," but called current caseloads "shocking" because of underfunding. She said high caseloads lead to burnout and turnover among counselors, which "negatively impact the students who so desperately need their services."
